Word Scramble Tool
At the top of this page, you can use the word scramble to help you play and win word scramble games. Our tool can help you solve any word scramble that has got you stumped, whether you're playing Scrabble, Words with Friends, (Scrabble Go!, Words With Friends 2), Wordscapes, or more.
How to Use the Word Scramble
- Enter your letters. Type all your letters into the search bar.
- Use "?" or "space" for blanks (wildcard). These blanks can be used for any letter in the alphabet.
- Click Advanced Options. This will bring a dropdown with other useful features to play with.
- Set the letters you’d like your word to start with and end, or contain. If there is a specific letter you would like the word to start with, end with, or contain, enter those into the appropriate boxes. For instance, if you’re looking for a word that uses your letters and starts with the letter ‘r’, put ‘r’ in the ‘starts with’ box. You can enter letters into the ‘starts with’ and ‘ends with’ boxes that are not contained in your word scramble.
- Pick what game you’re playing. Using the dropdown menu, choose what game you’re playing. This will help our word scramble tool calculate the number of points each unscrambled word will earn.
- Choose how to sort results. You can choose to sort unscrambled words by length (of letters), Scrabble points, or Words with Friends points.
- Decide if you’d like to show points. This will show how many points each word will earn you in the selected game. Just click the ‘show points’ box. Using this feature, you can see points without having to rearrange the sort by word length.
- Decide if you’d like to display results in uppercase or lowercase letters. If you’d like to display results in uppercase letters, click the ‘show uppercase’ box.
- Hit the big red scramble button. Or click the gray ‘clear’ button to start over.
Play the Word Scramble Game
Every day we create a new puzzle for our readers. Play our Word Scramble Daily Anagram Game. Each of our sets of words has a given 'theme' to guide it, and to help you solve the puzzles faster. For instance, one week we might do a 'weather' theme and include words like thermometer, temperature, rainbow, and thunderstorm. Or we might do a word-themed puzzle, and include words like: anagram, scrambled, dictionary, and letters. You can also opt to solve the daily word scramble without revealing the clue, to make the game a little bit more challenging. The Word Scramble changes every day, so there is always a fresh anagram for you to decode and discover. You can also go through and play past iterations of the Daily Word Scramble to further practice your anagramming and rearranging skills.
Playing our Daily Anagram/Word Scramble game is a great way to practice your skills for Scrabble. Whether you're a novice or an expert, getting practice is the key to succeeding at your next game. In addition to making you faster, it'll help you come up with more interesting, less obvious words to play, too.
Each puzzle consists of four words that are scrambled up. It is your job to unscramble each word to find the true anagram. If you are stuck, there is a clue available. Hint: Try rearranging the letters to see if you can more easily come up with the true anagram!Strategy for Word Scramble Games
Word Scramble games are created by rearranging jumbled letters. Players then rearrange these random letters into meaningful words. For instance, you might unjumble the word 'BOWLERS' or 'BELOW' from the letters SROEWLOB. Rearranging random letters is also called anagramming. Anagramming can be a game in and of itself, and has been practiced for hundreds of years. Old kings liked to rearrange and arrange the letters in words and see what other words they could find. Many modern word games also find their basis in the rearranging fun of anagrams.
For instance, Scrabble is one of the most popular word games in the world, and requires players to rearrange random letter tiles into meaningful words. Other word scramble type games include Boggle and Jumble, in which players are given jumbled letters of a single word. Plenty of word scramble games also exist for the digital crowd, including Words with Friends. Words with Friends is a very popular game that functions much like Scrabble and requires players to create words out of random jumbled pieces. Wordscapes is another popular game that requires players to rearrange letters to form words. Of course, there are also classic games like word searches and crosswords, which are similar to word scrambles.
Ways to improve at word scramble games?
A few tips to improve your score at games.
-
- Memorize all the playable two-letter words. This will help you score higher in games such as Scrabble because you can make plays more easily when you are stuck.
- Practice. This is probably the best way to improve because there is no substitute for practice.
- Time yourself. Many word scramble games are speed or time-based, so forcing your brain to descramble letters into words more quickly will improve your ability to visualize words.
- Play daily games like Wordle, Jumble, and our Daily Anagram. These daily games are great for creating a habit out of word games.
- Learn the common 3 letter and 4 letter hooks. Hooks are when you take a word, add a letter to it, and create a new word. For example, ALE is a word, and so is KALE. Thus, you can create any word with a K in it, as well as a score for KALE in games like Scrabble or Word Feud.
- Learn your Q-words. In many word scramble games, the letter Q is worth a lot of points. Qi is a common one that is a must-know for all players.
- Cheat for a little bit. Seriously! Using one of our word scramble tools will allow you to see the possibilities. Eventually, you will become better and will no longer need to cheat. (at least not that often)
- Improve your vocabulary. The more words you know, the more words you will be able to create out of random letters. When was the last time you learned a new word? If you learn just 1 new word per day, it adds up quickly, and your vocabulary will steadily improve.
The rules for playing each Word Scramble game are slightly different, but most rely on the same core instructions. Players are given random tiles or scrambled letters, and they are asked to rearrange the letters or tiles into words. Word Scramble and Word Jumble games can be tough but they're great for your brain and also a lot of fun!
